The Sancerre vineyard is said to date back to ancient times according to testimonies of historical personalities such as Pliny the Elder. It was not until the 12th century that Sancerre experienced a significant growth thanks to the monks of Saint-Satur and the Counts of Sancerre. Originally mainly planted with Pinot Noir, the vineyard was totally destroyed at the end of the 19th century by phylloxera (a parasite affecting vine roots). 13.5% ABV
