Women Uplifting Women: Five Charity Partners Making History Today

March is Women’s History Month, a time to look back at the trailblazers who paved the way for the freedoms we enjoy today. But at The Good Pour, we also see it as a time to look at the women making history right now in our own backyards. Throughout Central Florida and across the country, our charity partners are led by visionary women who have turned their personal trials, grief and resilience into movements of hope. This month, we are proud to shine a light on five organizations that are empowering women to reclaim their lives, find their voices and build futures full of dignity and independence.

One Heart for Women and Children: Transforming Pain into Purpose

In "The City Beautiful," strength is often found in the quiet resilience of women like Stephanie Bowman. The founder of One Heart for Women and Children, Stephanie’s purpose was born from her own history of perseverance. Having faced homelessness as a mother with nowhere to turn, she experienced the heavy emotional and physical toll of food insecurity. For Stephanie, hunger wasn't just a hardship; it became a call to action.

What began as a simple desire to help has grown into a massive community movement. Today, One Heart serves over 20,000 individuals every month across Orlando. They are a welcoming and inclusive resource, providing access to fresh food, clothing, baby supplies, hygiene essentials, and the everyday necessities that families need to navigate life’s toughest seasons. At One Heart, every person is met with dignity, and support is offered without judgment.

The organization’s community thrift store is a cornerstone of their model, empowering families with affordable essentials while sustaining the outreach that helps neighbors care for neighbors. Stephanie’s leadership is a perfect example of what we celebrate this Women’s History Month: the power of a woman who rises and immediately creates space for countless others to stand strong beside her.

Through love, service and a deep commitment to the community, One Heart reminds us that no one has to face hardship alone. When you shop at The Good Pour and select One Heart as your charity, you are directly contributing to the end of hunger and the empowerment of hope in Orlando. Because when we work together, hope grows stronger every single day.

Annabel’s Closet: Creating Stability in the Second Act

Leaving an abusive situation is an act of incredible bravery, but for many survivors of domestic violence, the "day after" is filled with a different kind of fear: the fear of starting over with nothing. Annabel’s Closet was founded by Lori Hutchinson ten years ago to bridge this gap, assisting families as they move from hopelessness to a new way of life in a home of their own.

Annabel’s Closet provides furniture, essential household items and toys — all at absolutely no cost to the families. When a survivor moves into a new apartment, it is often empty. By providing the beds for the children to sleep in, the table for the family to eat at, and the toys that bring back a sense of childhood, Annabel’s Closet turns a house into a home. This physical stability is a crucial component of long-term safety, because when a family has a comfortable, furnished space, the temptation to return to a dangerous but "stable" situation is greatly reduced.

The demand for these services in Central Florida is higher than ever. In 2024, the organization saw a 37% increase in families served over the previous year, and they are currently on track to help approximately 85 families this year alone. Over the past decade, Lori and her team have helped more than 600 families and put smiles on the faces of over 1,500 children.

The "Reveal Videos" produced by Annabel’s Closet show the profound emotional impact of their work — the tears of joy and the sigh of relief that come when a family realizes they truly have a fresh start. Your support of Annabel’s Closet through The Good Pour helps ensure that no family in our community has to choose between a dangerous home and an empty one. Together, we are helping them create a new beginning rooted in dignity and peace.

One Purse: Empowering Women to Build Financial Independence

For many women reclaiming their lives after the trauma of domestic abuse or human trafficking, the path forward is often blocked by a lack of financial resources. This is where One Purse steps in. Their mission is built on the belief that rebuilding a life means more than just a fresh start — it requires practical, sustainable opportunity. By focusing on access to employment and education, One Purse provides the essential tools women need to move forward with stability and confidence.

At the heart of the One Purse model is an innovative e-commerce purse shop that sells designer handbags that have been donated to the organization. This isn’t just a retail venture, it’s a supportive training ground where women gain real-world job experience and develop transferable professional skills. In this environment, work generates more than just income — it generates professional readiness and a renewed sense of self-worth. One Purse operates on a beautiful cycle of "opportunity fueling opportunity," where the revenue generated from the shop helps fund educational scholarships for survivors.

These scholarships are a lifeline. By removing the financial barriers that often prevent women from pursuing degrees, certifications or vocational training, One Purse expands their career options and strengthens the foundation for long-term independence. Complementing these tangible resources are empowerment programs rooted in the values of love, dignity and faith. These programs encourage personal growth and leadership, helping women break generational cycles of abuse and pursue their dreams wholeheartedly.

When you choose to support One Purse through your purchases at The Good Pour, you are helping Jaya Lord and her team ensure that every vulnerable woman has the resources she needs to build a new, independent future. It is a movement of collaboration that reminds us that when women have the means to support themselves, they have the power to change the world.

Project Beloved: Bringing Purpose to the Pain

The story of Project Beloved is one of unimaginable heartbreak transformed into a fierce, national movement for justice and dignity. Founded by Tracy Matheson following the 2017 murder and rape of her 22-year-old daughter, Molly Jane, Project Beloved exists to change the conversation about sexual assault and empower survivors to find their voices. Tracy’s journey from a "silent supportive friend" to a national advocate is a testament to the power of a mother’s love and the necessity of systemic change.

Project Beloved operates on three critical fronts: education, advocacy and collaboration. One of their most immediate and tangible impacts is the "Beloved Bundle." When a survivor undergoes a forensic medical exam, their clothing is often taken as evidence, leaving them with nothing but a hospital gown. Project Beloved steps into that moment of vulnerability by providing a bundle containing new clothing, undergarments, a hygiene kit, and items for comfort like a stress ball and coloring book. To date, they have donated over 35,000 bundles, allowing survivors to walk away from a traumatic experience with a sense of dignity.

Beyond immediate care, Project Beloved is fundamentally changing how law enforcement interacts with survivors. They have partnered with over 250 agencies to create "Soft Interview Rooms." By transforming cold, sterile interview spaces into warm, trauma-informed environments, they facilitate better investigations and, more importantly, a better path toward healing. Tracy’s advocacy has even reached the halls of the Texas Legislature with the passage of "Molly Jane’s Law," which mandates the use of ViCAP (Violent Criminal Apprehension Program database) to help identify serial predators before they can escalate their crimes.

Supporting Project Beloved means standing against the "blame and shame" culture that often surrounds sexual violence. It means supporting a shift in thinking that prioritizes the credibility of survivors and holds offenders accountable. Through Tracy’s leadership, Molly Jane’s legacy continues to protect and empower women across the United States, proving that even in the deepest darkness, we can choose to do better.

The Finley Project: Hope After a Storm

In the world of infant loss, the term "rainbow baby" refers to a child born after the loss of a child — a symbol of hope appearing after a storm. For Noelle Moore-Fernandez, the founder of The Finley Project, that rainbow was nearly thirteen years in the making. After the death of her daughter, Finley, Noelle navigated a season of profound isolation, loss and surrender. It was through this experience that she realized the world was missing a holistic, compassionate support system for mothers who have lost an infant.

The Finley Project is that support system. They walk alongside grieving mothers, offering a seven-step program that addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs that follow infant loss. Their work is sacred and deeply personal, aimed at helping families find the courage to hope again when their world has been shattered. Noelle’s own story took a miraculous turn in 2025 with the arrival of her son, Oscar — a "rainbow baby" born when the odds were less than 5%.

One of the most moving ways The Finley Project honors these families is through their community events. Recently, they hosted a Christmas event where families were invited to bring photos of their "babies in heaven" to meet Santa. For families who have no other children, this created a space where they could be seen as parents, allowing them to capture a photo while holding the image of the child they carry in their hearts.

By supporting The Finley Project, you are helping Noelle and her team provide professional counseling, support groups, and a hand to hold for mothers who feel forgotten by the world. It is a mission that reminds us that love and life continue, even after tragedy. Thank you for helping these families find their way through the storm and toward the colors of a new season.
