The Great Martini Renaissance: Classic Revival & Seasonal Twists
Few cocktails carry the effortless sophistication, ritual and iconic flair of the classic martini. While it never truly disappeared, the martini is currently experiencing a cultural renaissance across craft cocktail bars, social feeds and home entertaining.
Whether the viral popularity of espresso martinis helped bridge this trend or it was a collective shift to less sugary, more spirit-forward recipes, the fact is that cocktail enthusiasts are falling in love with the martini all over again.
What makes today’s martini moment so exciting isn't just a return to dry gin or vodka with a twist — it’s the playful, creative variations reinventing the glass for every season.
Traditional Gin Martini
Crisp, botanical and herbaceous.

Ingredients:
- 2 ½ oz Bombay Sapphire Gin
- ½ oz Dry Vermouth
- 1 dash Orange Bitters (optional, but recommended)
- Filthy Olives or a fresh lemon twist
Method: In a mixing glass with ice, add gin, dry vermouth and bitters. Stir continuously for 30 seconds until thoroughly chilled and diluted. Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass. Express lemon oil over the surface and drop in the lemon twist or garnish with an olive (or two).
Classic Vodka Martini
Smooth, clean and cool.

Ingredients:
- 2 ½ oz Grey Goose Vodka
- ½ oz Dry Vermouth
Method: In a mixing glass with ice, combine vodka and dry vermouth. Stir for 30–45 seconds until frost forms on the outside of the glass. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish and serve! (Psst… If you prefer a Dirty Martini, add ½ oz of Filthy Olive Brine prior to stirring).
Vermouth: The Secret to a Great Martini
Vermouth is a fortified, aromatically infused wine. Understanding the nuances between styles ensures your drink hits the exact flavor balance you desire.
- Dry Vermouth (French Style): Clear or pale straw in color, crisp, bone-dry and herbal. This is the essential bottle for classic dry martinis, bringing acidity and botanical complexity that cuts through the heat of the base spirit.
- Blanc/Blanco Vermouth: Clear or golden, semi-sweet and subtly floral. While softer than dry vermouth, it still carries enough structure for modern "wet" martinis without adding heavy sweetness.
- Sweet/Red Vermouth (Italian Style): Rich, dark amber, caramel-tinged, and heavily herbal. Reserved for drinks like Manhattans, Negronis or Boulevardiers —not classic dry martinis.
Note: Because vermouth is a wine fortified with spirits, it will oxidize. Once opened, keep your vermouth in the refrigerator and use it within 1 to 2 months.
Summer Twist: The Low-ABV “Reverse” Martini
A lower-proof martini for the pool or a warm summer evening.

Ingredients:
- 2 oz Dry Vermouth
- 1 oz Bombay Sapphire Gin
- 2 dashes Grapefruit Bitters
- Cucumber ribbon or grapefruit twist
Method: In a mixing glass with ice, add vermouth, gin and bitters. Stir and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish and enjoy! Flipping the classic ratio puts the crisp, low-proof fortified wine front and center while letting the bright botanicals of Bombay Gin sing in the background.
Fall Forecast: Tequila Espresso Martini
Roasty, rich and spirit-forward — boldly unsweetened.

Ingredients:
- 1 ½ oz G4 Tequila Blanco
- ½ oz Evil Bean Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur
- 1 oz Freshly Brewed Espresso (or unsweetened cold brew concentrate)
- Pinch of sea salt
- 3 whole coffee beans or a pinch of cocoa powder
Method: Unlike sweet dessert drinks, this recipe emphasizes roasted coffee, rich agave, and a touch of salt to balance any bitterness. In a shaker with ice, add tequila, coffee liqueur and espresso. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds until foamy. Double strain into a chilled coupe, then garnish with cocoa or coffee beans.
The Ultimate Freezer-Door "Filthy" Martini
Serves 8

Batch Ingredients:
- 16 oz Grey Goose Vodka
- 3 oz Dry Vermouth
- 3 oz Filthy Olive Brine
- 3 oz Filtered Water (Crucial! Water mimics the dilution you normally get from melting ice)
Method: In a clean 750mL bottle, add in vodka, dry vermouth, olive brine and filtered water. Cap tightly, shake to combine, and place directly into your freezer for at least 6 hours. Pour straight from the freezer into a chilled glass. Garnish with Filthy Olives — try Blue Cheese, Pimento or Pickle Olives!
