Protecting the Place We Call Home: Spotlight on Conservation Florida
This April, as we celebrate Earth Day, we are focusing on the very land that makes Florida so special. In a state defined by its rapid growth and changing landscapes, the work of protecting our natural heritage has never been more vital.
We are proud to dedicate this month’s charity partner spotlight to Conservation Florida, a local non-profit land conservancy dedicated to protecting the Sunshine State's water, wildlife and wild places — the places we’re lucky enough to call home.
Did you know 1,000 new people move to Florida every single day? That adds up to a city the size of Orlando each year! With that growth comes extreme pressure on the natural beauty of our home state. Our sparkling springs, our wide-open prairies, our rivers of grass, and working farms & ranchlands.

From Pensacola to the Florida Keys, Conservation Florida has protected roughly 45,000 acres of wild Florida, including an addition to our largest state park, Fakahatchee Strand Preserve, in southwest Florida near Naples.
With fewer than 200 Florida panthers left in the wild, these critically endangered cats need protected and connected habitat like The Fakahatchee. Conservation Florida is giving them just that.
By adding more acres to this wild and wonderful strand swamp, Conservation Florida is helping give endangered Florida panthers more room to roam, safe space to raise their young, and a habitat free from busy highways and bright lights. They’re giving them a fighting chance to survive and thrive.
From agriculture to adventure, the non-profit also helps protect family farms and outdoor destinations like D Ranch Preserve — Conservation Florida’s own 476-acre protected area north of Orlando. Once a cattle farm, D Ranch Preserve was generously donated to the non-profit and is now a thriving ecosystem thanks to the group’s stewardship.
