Old Forester & Jack Daniel's Private Barrels

As we continue our Year of the Barrel Picks, we are heading to the heart of whiskey country. We’ve partnered with the legends at Brown-Forman to hand-select two powerhouse barrels exclusively for our shelves: a high-octane Old Forester Bourbon and a storied Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey

These are not "polite" bottles. They are big, bold, and bottled exactly as they were found in the rickhouse. And you can only get them at The Good Pour. Don’t miss this double-bottle drop on Thursday, May 21, at 6:30pm!

Old Forester “The Good Pour” Barrel Strength Bourbon

There is nothing subtle about this barrel pick — and that’s a good thing. This is the ultimate "Kentucky Hug,” the kind of pour you reach for at the end of a long day when you need something substantial. Coming in at a massive 132.2 proof, this fits the quintessential Old Forester Barrel Strength profile: big, brash, and unapologetic. Because of its heat, it’s a masterclass in versatility and can stand up to a large sphere of ice or a splash of water without losing an ounce of its soul.

Tasting Notes: The nose is a bold preview of the intensity to come. The high proof is evident but beautifully balanced by dark fruit, baking spices and sweet cream. On the palate, it’s viscous and buttery with deep layers of oak and leather up front, followed by black pepper and cherries.

The Finish: Our tasters were struck by a finish that reminded them of an old library book — not musty, but unique, familiar and storied. It’s a long, warm and spicy end to a truly legendary pour.

Jack Daniel’s “The Good Pour” Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey

Selected on site in Lynchburg back in November, this barrel has an interesting backstory. Filled in April 2020, it spent nearly six years maturing in Warehouse 2-31. This specific house is embedded in limestone rock, with the back wall of the warehouse sitting just 20 feet from a massive rock face. This natural insulation keeps the barrels cooler than most, allowing the whiskey to age with a refined complexity.

Tasting Notes: The nose is warm and sweet, offering caramel corn with a signature hint of banana peeking through. Despite the 127.6 proof, it drinks surprisingly soft at first, with a warm mouthfeel of caramel and butterscotch leading into cloves and peppery spices.

The Finish: This is where the whiskey truly shines. It is not "smooth" or "elegant" — it is a bold reminder that you are drinking straight-from-the-barrel Tennessee whiskey. A final pop of spice lingers long after the sip, proving that this cool-climate barrel still packs a massive punch.
