Building Skills, Inspiring Independence: Spotlight on Quest
For individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, achieving new levels of independence is a life-changing journey built on learning real-world skills, finding their unique strengths, and being embraced by a community that believes in them.
We are proud to shine a spotlight on Quest, Inc., a local non-profit organization committed to doing just that — helping children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities live, learn, work and play in their communities.
Each day, Quest serves more than 500 individuals with developmental disabilities through 20 locations in Orange, Seminole and Hillsborough counties. For many of these individuals, achieving true independence is a journey built on learning practical, real-world skills. To help them reach their goals, Quest provides a comprehensive network of support services, including specialized education, employment training, residential services and so much more.
By meeting each individual exactly where they are, Quest challenges people to discover their strengths, build confidence and pursue their personal goals. Since the organization was founded in 1962, Quest has transformed the lives of thousands of adults and children, building a community where everyone experiences a full life.
Our team at The Good Pour recently had the privilege of spending a day with the incredible students at Quest Kids Academy. As part of their kitchen skills class, we hosted a hands-on workshop teaching these talented students how to craft their own refreshing mocktails. From measuring out the ingredients to picking the perfect garnishes, it was a joy to watch the students master these new social and culinary skills. Seeing their faces light up as they tasted their creations was a powerful reminder of how learning a new skill can foster a sense of pride and independence.
